231% increase in traffic at Rightmove after Christmas Day

Our partners at Rightmove have released data that shows property searches doubling over Christmas and New Year last year. As to be expected, page visits were low on Christmas day, however, as illustrated by the graph below, Rightmove traffic spikes daily until the 29th December.
As you can see, there is a quiet period around New Year’s Eve but then a serious ‘pickup’ in page visits in the early days of the New Year.
From the 26th December the traffic sky rockets reaching over 40mn hits.
